MISSION STATEMENT

Our Mission

International Deaf Leather - Uniting Communities Since 1991

What We Stand For

International Deaf Leather is dedicated to bringing together the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and hearing leather communities. We believe in creating spaces where everyone can connect, share experiences, and learn from one another. Our mission goes beyond just organizing events - we are building a network of support, friendship, and mutual understanding that spans across the country and around the world.

We recognize that Deaf individuals have unique experiences within the leather community. Communication barriers, cultural differences, and accessibility issues have historically created gaps between Deaf and hearing leather enthusiasts. IDL works tirelessly to bridge these gaps, ensuring that Deaf culture is celebrated and that Deaf individuals have full access to everything the leather community has to offer.

Our Core Principles

Our Purpose

IDL supports a broad purpose that encompasses everything we do. We are here to:

  • Create spaces where Deaf and hearing leather enthusiasts can connect and build lasting friendships
  • Provide education about leather culture, safety, and community values
  • Advocate for accessibility and inclusion in all leather events and spaces
  • Celebrate Deaf culture and American Sign Language within the leather community
  • Support new members as they discover and explore their leather identity
  • Honor the traditions and history that have shaped us

Membership
